SASO is the abbreviation of Saudi Arabian Standards Organization, namely Saudi Arabian Standards Organization. SASO is responsible for the development of national standards for all daily necessities and products, including measurement system, identification, etc.

1、 Introduction to certification

In fact, many SASO standards are based on the safety standards of relevant international organizations such as the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). Like many other countries, Saudi Arabia has added some unique projects to the standard according to its own civil and industrial voltage, geographical and climatic environment, ethnic and religious habits. For the purpose of consumer protection, SASO standard is applicable not only to products imported from abroad, but also to products produced in Saudi Arabia.

The Ministry of industry and Commerce of Saudi Arabia and SASO require all products covered by SASO certification standards to have SASO certification certificate when entering Saudi customs. Products without SASO certificate will be refused entry by Saudi port customs.

The following steps are required for manufacturers to obtain SASO certification and export products to Saudi Arabia:

Apply to the consulting company, and the consulting company shall inform the enterprise of the product certification procedure according to the product category and the requirements of SASO;

The enterprise submits product samples for testing in accordance with the certification procedures, and some products (such as some motor vehicles and accessories) need to be inspected in the factory;

After the product is tested to be qualified, the enterprise will obtain SASO certification certificate; if the product is tested to be unqualified, the enterprise will get a detailed explanation report

When the products are exported to Saudi Arabia, SASO certificate shall be issued when the goods enter the customs, and the technical personnel of Saudi Arabian Standards Organization will check the certificate; if the SASO certificate cannot be issued, the products will be refused to enter the country or sampled to the Ministry of industry and Commerce of Saudi Arabia or the laboratory of Saudi Arabian Standards Organization for testing, if the test is not qualified, the products will be refused to enter the country, All expenses shall be borne by the export enterprise.

3、 Certification Form

1、 Pre shipment compliance verification

This method is most suitable for exporters or manufacturers with very few shipments. Apply for pre shipment inspection (PSI) and pre shipment test (PST) before each shipment. COC certificate can be obtained if both of them are qualified.

2、 Product registration

This method is suitable for a large number of customers, and its advantage is that each shipment inspection (PSI) is necessary, but each shipment does not need to be tested before shipment (PST). The customer can obtain the registration qualification certificate statement for registration (SFR) by submitting the declaration of conformity, providing the test report meeting the import country and relevant international or domestic standards, and stating that the product has met the basic requirements and national differences of the import country.

3、 Type approval licensing

This method can not only save the inspection fee or test fee before each shipment, simplify the repeated application procedure, but also ensure the delivery time. Therefore, it is favored by some large companies that have frequent or large-scale shipments and pay attention to quality and reputation. The exporter or manufacturer's products can only obtain the statement for license (SFL) certificate if they fully meet the compulsory standards of the importing and exporting countries. This certificate is valid for one year. Before it expires, it is required to submit an updated factory inspection report and pay an annual fee, which can be renewed after being reviewed by RLC. The products with SFL certificate no longer need pre delivery inspection (PSI) for each batch of goods, but are reduced to a few sampling inspection (generally 2-3 times / year, depending on the product condition) in a year.

4、 Precautions

*The test shall be carried out according to SASO / PAI standard or IEC standard + national difference, and the requirements of SASO / PAI standard shall be considered separately.
