ETL
ETL is short for electrical testing laboratories. ETL laboratory was founded by American inventor Edison in 1896. It enjoys a high reputation in the United States and around the world. Like UL and CSA, ETL can test and issue ETL certification mark according to UL standard or American national standard, or test and issue composite certification mark according to UL standard or American national standard and CSA Standard or Canadian standard at the same time. The "us" at the bottom right indicates that it applies to the United States, the "C" at the bottom left indicates that it applies to Canada, and the "us" and "C" at the same time apply to both countries.
Application criteria
Any electrical, mechanical or mechanical and electrical products with ETL mark indicate that this product has met the minimum requirements of the generally recognized product safety standards of the United States and Canada, and it has been tested to meet the relevant product safety standards.
ETL also requires that its production site has been inspected, and the applicant agrees to conduct regular follow-up inspection on its factory thereafter to ensure that the product always meets this requirement.
Difference between UL and ETL
UL and ETL both represent products that have passed the tests of NRTL and meet the corresponding safety standards. So the real difference is service. As ETL's customers, you can enjoy customized testing, inspection and certification services, fast operation cycle and flexible working methods. We are creating a way to work more closely with our customers so that your products can enter the market faster, more smoothly and more efficiently.
ETL certification and UL certification have the same market access effect in North America, but the cost of ETL certification is much lower than that of UL certification. Generally, it is only half of that of UL certification. Moreover, the product testing of ETL certification can be transferred through CB test report, which can save you a lot of testing costs.
ETL certification time is also much shorter than UL certification. In special cases, ETL can issue certificates first, and then conduct Factory review, so as to save precious time for your product export.
common problem
Common problems about ETL column name flag[
Why manufacturers choose ETL column name mark
Manufacturers want to have multiple choices to meet their purchasing needs, and testing and certification service providers are also an important part of the selection.
Are ETL listing marks legally equivalent to UL and CSA listing marks
Products sold in the United States are required by law to be tested and certified at a national accredited testing laboratory (NRTL) designated by the OSHA. The function of NRTL is to provide independent evaluation, test and certification services for various electric, gas and fuel products.
The product is labeled with ETL name indicating that the product has met the basic requirements of specified safety standards. In addition, the mark also indicates that the manufacturer's factory complies with various compliance measures, and receives regular follow-up inspection to verify whether the products have continuous consistency.
What is NRTL
National recognized NRTL is an independent laboratory recognized by OSHA, which tests products according to applicable product safety standards (such as the product safety standards developed by UL and other standard setting organizations).
What does the ETL column name flag mean
In short, the ETL listing mark indicates that your product has been tested by NRTL in the United States or SCC in Canada, which conforms to the recognized national standards and also meets the most basic requirements for product sales or distribution. For dealers, retailers and customers, ETL logo is the guarantee that the products meet the safety standards and have been tested and certified by the third party.
Does the retail chamber of Commerce accept the ETL logo
yes. Because ETL listing mark is a widely accepted and recognized product conformity certificate, there is no reason for retailers not to accept products with ETL listing mark. Some retailers or distributors do not accept products with ETL listing marks, most likely because of market misinformation, which misleads some manufacturers to think that they cannot choose their own partners for third-party testing.
How to do if ETL column name sign is not familiar
There is no standard formula to give users a better understanding of ETL column name flags. Depending on the context, circumstances and other details of the situation, the correct approach varies. Some users only need to show them other products with ETL listing logo and respected by everyone can be found in "listing product catalog", which can eliminate their concerns. Some users may insist that UL Mark is the only acceptable product conformity certificate, which requires a more comprehensive explanation of the real legal requirements implied by the third party product safety test. Tell them about the NRTL program and explain to users that the product safety certification program includes the same testing, listing, labeling, and follow-up inspection services as UL.
Which countries accept the ETL mark
In the United States and Canada, ETL mark is a widely accepted product conformity certificate.
Are ETL listing marks accepted throughout North America
As ETL listing marks are widely recognized and accepted as proof of product compliance with safety standards, retailers, inspectors, and departments with jurisdiction (AHJ) all accept ETL listing products.
